The LINK-PP LPJ0284GENL is a 10/100BASE-T Fast Ethernet RJ45 Integrated Connector Module (ICM) engineered specifically for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. It is designed as a functional cross-reference and pin-to-pin compatible replacement for the Halo Electronics HFJ11-RP22E-L12RL. By consolidating the RJ45 physical interface, discrete LAN magnetics, protection circuitry, and LED indicators into a single package, this module significantly reduces BOM component count and shortens high-speed signal paths on the PCB. Compared with discrete components, this integrated approach minimizes placement tolerance issues during automated PCB assembly and streamlines manufacturing.
Unlike standard data-only networking connectors, PoE-enabled modules must handle both high-frequency differential signaling and continuous DC power delivery. The LPJ0284GENL features a 4-core magnetic transformer architecture (1CT:1CT turns ratio) that guarantees a minimum Open Circuit Inductance (OCL) of 350 µH with an 8mA DC bias, preventing magnetic core saturation under PoE loads. Uniquely, this specific module integrates internal Rectifier Diodes, providing critical reverse-polarity protection and bridging capabilities to safeguard sensitive PHY silicon in unpredictable power environments. Furthermore, it undergoes rigorous 1500Vrms Hipot testing to maintain the required electrical isolation between the PHY circuitry and the external cable interface.
Mechanically, the LPJ0284GENL utilizes a 90-degree right-angle (side-entry) design with a Tab-Down (Latch Down) orientation, optimized for Through-Hole (THT) assembly. To manage electromagnetic interference in noisy environments, the housing is equipped with external EMI spring tabs that establish continuous 360-degree grounding with the equipment chassis bezel. Mounted on an FR4 base with a built-in T-Post retaining pin, it improves PCB retention during automated wave soldering and long-term mechanical handling. Integrated Green (Link) and Yellow (Activity) LEDs provide direct visual network diagnostics at the port.
Compliant with IEEE 802.3 standards, RoHS, REACH, and UL, and operating within the 0°C to +70°C commercial temperature range, this ICM is suitable for PoE-powered edge devices. Typical applications include IP security cameras, PoE-enabled intercom systems, industrial Ethernet switches, smart building control panels, and IoT gateways.
